Spring in Oak Tree Town, your first year!
You are a new face to Oak Tree Town. Scouted by Veronica to be the fifth farmer of this town, you have the options to be male or female and do some editing to your face and hair style/color. Once you are ready to start your game, you will find Veronica has a...minor issue. Your farm is not yet ready and you will have to stay with another farmer before it is...for a week.
But fear not! You are staying with Eda, the nicest old lady farmer one could hope to meet, it seems. She will train you for a few days to see if you got what it takes to run your own farm. :)
Your training begins on the Second of Spring, but the night of the First you meet a neighbor who seems to have a thing for flowers - Giorgio! Some may worry he is a bachelor you have to win over...don't. He's not. HIS neighbor, whom you will meet on your first training day, IS though.

On your first training day (Spring 2nd):
Eda will teach you to gather materials. Now, you can either gather 5 of the twigs and pebbles evenly, or gather more of one then the other. I gathered more twigs than pebbles, however I found pebbles ARE rarer, so you might want to do the opposite. You will need 15 of each come Spring 7th, at the earliest.
Once you've done your gathering duties, Eda will reward you with some OJ. :D How nice of her!
Then the silence is broken by someone yelling out "Granny! I'm here to help!" In comes Fritz, the neighbor to Giorgio and the first bachelor you meet. He's a bit of a klutz (Hence the bandage on his face) but a hard worker. Eda actually tries to make the two of you friends right away, asking it as a favor. Fritz agrees right away, saying your best buddies now! Wow...plus side, he teaches you how to dive in the river...

Training, Day 3 (Spring 3rd):
Eda takes you to the Trading Depot for a lesson with Veronica, whom is the guild master here, thus the woman who oversees all trading. Wow!
In addition to meeting the Silk Country vendor, Asche (a female trader, I might point out), you also meet Jonas, the guild member in charge of the stall that tells you who's there, what they want trade wise and so on.

Training, Day 4 (Spring 4th):
It's Farming Day! Finally!!!!
Eda will bless you with four bags of Turnip seed, which it is your job to plant however you want. One bag/plot, or all four! It's totally up to you. I suggest planting all four, cause in training mode, you lose ZERO stamina! Then you have four plots you get to take care of the "whole game" on her farm! How sweet is that?! True, the tools she gives you are old models, but hey - better than spending 500g each in the village store for them at the same level, yes?
Speaking of, Eda decides once you've proven yourself planting, that you should head into town to meet Otmar - the man who runs the general store! However...on the way there, you hit a...bump in the road. It seems Sam (NPC) thinks you are a servant like him to Lady Elise, and pretty much drags you to her manor. Once there, she asks for help moving things, requesting you don't bump them into the walls, "as you couldn't afford to repay them on your salary." However, learning you are NOT a servant, she gives a squeal. >_> Drama queen. Yes, she is a bachelorette... Thankfully, she lets you go with the simple warning of "there is a way to do these things", these things meaning entering a lady's home...
After this escapade, you are free to explore the town, as her farm (Margaret Ranch) is located inside the town proper. Before you go to the general store, however, I suggest meeting other people. Places: Inn - Maurice and his youngest daughter, Melanie. (His older daughter is Lillie, whom you meet later, and is also the local weather personality on TV once you get one); Carpenter's - Gunther (carpenter) and Corona (wife); Clinic - Marian (whom I'm still not sure is male or female!) and Angela (Veronica's nurse-daughter); and you can meet Raeger outside his restaurant today, that is closed. On the other side of town (to the west) you can see Mistel in the Antique shop - the only shop on that side. (You meet his elder sister Iris also later, she is a novelist)
Otmar welcomes you into his shop, and thanks to Eda's "allowances" you will have a total of 2500g to use this day. :D IF somehow you managed to lose the Old Hoe or Old Watering Can, he will sell you them again for 500g each, as well as having an Old Sickle for sale for the same price. He also sells Fertilizer (20g a package) as well as seeds to grow - examples are Turnip (320g a bag), Potato (440g a bag) and even Peach Seedlings for summer (630g each)! You can also expand your bag (50 items big - each item can be x99), but you need 100,000g to do so...

As for Silk Country, who is around on the Fourth to sell:
You can also buy animals from her as well. A cow costs 10,000g and needs a barn. A chicken costs 5,000g and needs a coop - both you do not have yet, so no worries.
Note: If you caught any Killifish or crabs while diving, you want to sell those to Asche. You can't cook them, anyway. Same with the bugs you see around the fields. You can catch and sell them only for a little bit, but every G helps.
- Turnip seeds - 320g
- Rice - 450g
- Salt - 310g
- Sugar - 320g
- Spice - 600g
- Coffee Pack - 420g
- Rock Salt - 450g (processed salt is thus cheaper than the rock o.o)
- Pepper - 370g
- Cinnamon - 370g
- Apricot - 500g (you can find this free later, I do NOT recommmend it)
- Iron - 1000g (If you are desperate, go for it. Otherwise, wait - you can find them in the river)
- Crystal - 5000g (found later, but hey, you might want/need it, so...up to you)

Training, Day 5 (Spring 5th):
Today you learn to harvest crops by gathering a few of Eda's turnips. Yay?
Asche is still wheeling and dealing today, so sell, sell! The one bug NOT to sell - Bees. You need them later for honey, of course. I also recommend buying fertilizer from Otmar whenever he has it to raise the quality of crops for when we can get the seed maker!! (Which you also need to have 5 bags of Turnip seed for, so save a few in the Toolbox)

Training, Day 6 (Spring 6th):
Today you learn cow care on Hanako, one of Eda's cows. :D
You will get an Old Milker and an Old Brush for this test, and will end up with a bottle/tin of 1 star grade milk from Hanako, which you can keep! Hooray!
I'm not sure if you can acquire grass seed from Otmar's store on this day or not. I didn't get there fast enough - but I DID find some by bouncing on the lumber pile by Gunther's shop! o.o Lucky!
Tomorrow, Eda tells us, Veronica will give us our farm! So exciting!!!
